She is ONLY 90
My husband Peter‘s grandmother is becoming 90 year old in 2025. Her name is Ruth and she is from his mother’s side. As I can see the beauty of dried flowers, I can also see the beauty of withdering in 90.
It was a culture shock for me to see how she lives - on her own, making her own foods, being invited to enough parties, working at the local red cross store voluntarily, doing simple exercies with her buddies on Monday. She is exploring a new peak of life at her 90s. That is all different from the culture I am from.
My kids are always wearing the hats she stiched for them. Even though it is almost summer now, it is still periodically cold in Denmark. Before they go outside, they mention specifically that they want to wear her hats. No girls will say no to pink and orange colors. They are still small, and could not undertand that she is moving forwards to simplicity of living, her legs hurt, she easily feels tired and she only makes the easiest food, but she is continuously delivering love to people around her with indigenous feeling of observing how beautiful the world is as it is.
Due to the language limit, we cannot communicate with so much complexity. However under the help of camera, I have made more connections with her and know more details about her. I feel grateful that she is standing in front of my camera and telling the rest of the world that she is living with getting old but just in another way.
